7 reasons for ONbackup

1. Security

ONbackup Enterprise uses a 256Bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). The password is NEVER transmitted. Even if you had the administrator password, it would be impossible for you to read the data on the server without the decryption key. Thus, even critical data such as from the personnel department, accounting or even the company management can be integrated safely into the backup process and, what is more, even be secured via the internet.

2. Minimum data transfer

Although using encryption, the ONbackup Enterprise Server works highly efficient in respect to effective/minimum data transfer. For a new backup, only the data that has changed since the last backup is being transferred. This takes place on block level which makes it possible that only those fractions or parts of a file are being transmitted that have undergone changes. Thus, it is possible also for notebook users to secure data via ISDN or UMTS from wherever you are outside your company.

3. Intelligent data compression

Data compression when encrypted can result in an even higher data transfer. ONbackup has included a packet analysis defining whether data compression results in better transfer rates, thus using the optimum transmission method.

4. Efficient administration

With ONbackup Enterprise Server, you are always up-to-date. As the administrator of a company, with only a few mouse clicks you can see  immediately how often your users tend to secure their data. Should a user secure their data too scarcely or should their volume soon exceed their limit, you can easily interfere. You can easily send user name and password via email to new users. As the users themselves add encryption, there is no risk whatsoever even via email.

5. Easy to use

Once installed, ONbackup is operated through double mouse click only. If you wish, we can even leave out this little step and have ONbackup run the backup autonomously. Users either have the backup run in the background or they end their work leaving ONbackup to shut down the computer after a complete backup. After completion of each backup, the ONbackup Enterprise Server generates an email to the respective user. Thus, users have constant control as to backups run in the background.

6. Data restore without administrator interaction

It is possible for every user at any time to resecure their own data. For this operation, no administrator is needed. Thus, in case of losses, both administrator and users save valuable time. In case of a complete data loss of a user, the administrator has the possibility to send them the complete backup set (encrypted) on a data carrier. Once the user receives the data carrier, they can restore their data locally from this carrier.

7. Highest compatibility

In general, an IT environment tends to be a grown structure. Therefore it is important that applications can be run in heterogeneous scenarios. The ONbackup Enterprise Client can easily be run under Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP Home and XP Professional as well as under Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. Versions for Apple, Windows Pocket PC and Smart phone as well as Symbian are about to be realised. The Enterprise Server can be run as (Dienst) service under Windows 2000, XP Home, XP Professional, 2000 Server (all versions) and 2003 Server (all versions).
